Purpose of Position



Working with clients/management to ensure the setting up and tearing-down of events and maintaining and cleaning the building and grounds. Working scheduled events and providing customer service for them. 


Duties and Responsibilities


Supervision Received

The event coordinator will receive supervision from the Event Manager


Supervision Exercised

 The incumbent has no supervisory responsibility.




  • Work with customers to manage events as scheduled (primarily afterhours and nights and weekends)
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot OCC AV systems
  • Assist with all Social Media Accounts
  • Set-up and tear-down tables and chairs for events
  • Empty all garbage cans daily and take out trash
  • Vacuum carpets as needed
  • Sweep/mop lobby and all tile and marble floors
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms’ daily
  • Sweep off front and back steps and remove trash
  • Remove trash and cigarette butts
  • Clean kitchen




  • Perform other duties as directed
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of ConferenceCenter buildings as directed
  • Dust and polish furniture as needed


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities





Proper grammar and proper use of English in speaking and writing

Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication


Skills and Abilities:

Ability to follow room set-up diagrams. Learn basic A/V setup.

Work autonomously

Meet specified or required deadlines

Communicate effectively with customers, elected officials, other employees, etc.,


Deal with others in a professional manner

Maintain professional composure in heated situations

Follow policies and procedures

Must be available to work nights, weekends and some daytime. 


Special Requirements


Valid Mississippi Driver License


Tools and Equipment Used


Indoors tools and equipment consists of push mops, brooms, dusters and sweepers. Outdoors equipment consists of seeders, weed eaters, mowers, trimmers, etc.


Physical Demands


Physical work involved with this position includes, but is not limited to, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending.


Work Environment


85% of work is indoors in climate-controlled environment.  15% of work may be outdoors in temperatures ranging from 45 degrees F to 100 degrees F.
