Per Diem/Call-In (Varied Shifts/Non-Benefited)

The DeKalb Health Advanced EMT/Paramedic will be responsible for the following duties:

  • ·        Help to resuscitate patients in an emergency before hospital admission
  • ·        Provide medical assistance during emergency situations, such as CPR, AED, prevent shock, control  severe bleeding, prevent spinal damage, etc.
  • ·        Evaluate a patient's condition to determine the right course of treatment
  • ·        Monitor patient's condition and keep it stable while en route to the hospital
  • ·        Aid in the transfer of patients to the emergency units of hospitals
  • ·        Keep the equipment clean after use; check and replace damaged and used supplies
  • ·        Decontaminate the interior of the ambulance if used to transport a patient suffering from a contagious disease

  • Must be able to work 12 or 24 hour shifts and perform the job duties of an Advanced EMT/Paramedic

  • Physical requirements:  Walking, standing, talking, hearing, seeing, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, handling and lifting 125 lbs. to waist level.

  • Working conditions:  May work either inside or outside, in hot or cold conditions or sudden temperature change, with humid, dry, wet, dusty, dirty, noisy conditions and/or cramped quarters.  May be exposed to body fluids, odors, machinery hazards, vibration and moving objects.

  • Required credentials and documentation:  Current Indiana Advanced EMT certification, current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR or equivalent, current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Experienced Provider Certification, and an unrestricted drivers license.

  • Recommended documentation:  Prehospital Trauma Life Support Certification
